"Ortigas shootout results out soon" by The Manila Times

THE Commission on Human Rights on Wednesday set a new schedule “within this week or next week” for the release of its findings on the controversial Ortigas shootout last November.

In a telephone interview, Edgar Diansuy, the commission’s media relations bureau chief, said the agency is still finalizing the resolution on its investigation. “The commission will either release its findings within this week or next week once the resolution is finished. It will contain findings on whether the incident was a shootout or a rubout, as some quarters claim,” he said.

Three suspected carjackers, reportedly members of the notorious Valle Verde gang, were killed in an encounter with members of the Traffic Management Group’s Task Force Limbas on November 7, 2005, at the Ortigas Center.

Once the report on the shootout is out, Diansuy said, the commission will then release its findings on two other cases: The Hacienda Luiista massacre in November 2004 and the takeover of the detention center in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig by imprisoned members of the Abu Sayyaf group in March 2005.

Commission chairman Purificacion Quisumbing in December announced that her agency would disclose the results of its investigation into three high-profile cases: The Hacienda Luisita massacre, the Bicutan siege and the Ortigas shootout.

But the commission failed to do so, even as it was unable to finish its probe on the Ortigas shootout before Christmas.

The commission held its last hearing on January 10.

TMG shoot and killed another car thief in La Union.
When will this group start arresting and questioning?
Doesnt the CHR question these "regular" procedures/patterns?

CHR claimed in December 2005 it would release it's report after two weeks. In January 2006, ABS-CBN released the un-official CHR report and confirmed to be accurate by a CHR board member on a tv interview. Now it's February 2006, CHR says it will release it's report in two weeks time (again?). What's holding them up? Is there political pressure due to the destabilization plots against the President and her fear to demoralize the police force? TMG police operatives did WRONG by murdering the 3 young men and COVERING UP by destroying their names. Why not just let the TRUTH come out? Justice delayed is justice denied.

We are in an age where the technology to carefully scrutinize video footages digitally. They can be enhanced to show greater detail and clarity.

The technology does not even expensive, its available off the shelf. The video tape was easily transferred to digital in one night, the same computer used for the transfer can be used to digitally enhance the footage.

There is absolutely no excuse for any of the investigating bodies to deny the evidence. It is right there screaming at their faces. The longer they withhold the more it looks like a major cover-up.

Last night, TMG did it again. They fired on a suspected vehicle without warning. It was fortunate that the businessman driving the car is alive and suffered minor injuries.

If the Police can do this with impunity then we are back to the good old days of martial law when police and military had absolute power. What happens next?
